Eric Freeman (born July 13, 1965) is a former American actor best known for his role as Ricky Caldwell in the 1987 film Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2.

Early life

Freeman was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina on July 13, 1965. He studied acting with a heavyweight man in the 1980s known as Don P. Chambers.[1]

Career

Internet fame

In Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, there is a scene in which Freeman's character Ricky Caldwell shouts, "Garbage Day!" before shooting a man taking out his garbage.[2] The quote "Garbage Day!" has become a popular Internet meme. Video parodies include replacing "Garbage Day" with other important days, such as St. Patrick's Day, Talk Like a Pirate Day, Judgment Day, or Opposite Day.

Other works

After Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 Eric Freeman made appearances in various television shows including; a notable guest appearance on the TV show The Adventures of Superboy, playing the character Peter in the episode The Woman Called Tiger Eye, appearances on several episodes of In Living Color, and his last being in the 1992 television series Dangerous Curves as "Johnny Strong" in the episode titled "Muscle Boys". In 2004, the directors of Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2 tried to find him for the commentary track of the DVD release, but they were unable to track him down. Freeman's current whereabouts remain a mystery. Eric Freeman possibly has an uncredited appearance in the 1984 film Children of the Corn as "Israel".[3]
